About me as a Therapist

I am trained in and offer a variety of types of psychological treatments and approaches (described in the sections below), but I offer individualised, holistic ways of working, taking into account all aspects of emotional and physical wellbeing.

Depending on the outcome of a collaborative psychological assessment as well as your preferences, we may agree to work in a particular way or draw on different approaches and methods to tailor the treatment in order to address your individual needs and goals.

Regardless of this, I always work relationally, in an attuned way (as you can see from the testimonies provided by my clients), creating a safe environment and space for meaning-making and personal growth.

What problems can be tackled in therapy

Therapy can be focused on a specific mental health condition or other difficulties/ issues, which are more pervasive or not linked to any specific mental health condition.

I specialise in trauma as well as other psychological difficulties (see the list below) but I always hope that we can journey beyond pain and despair and into the discovery of meaningful, purposeful life. Hence, I am particularly interested in therapeutic processes that foster growth, resilience, expansion and creativity.

We approached Maja for advice on a new musical we were developing which referenced both the impact of suicide and the trauma of domestic abuse. We needed someone to look through the script and make sure our handling of those topics was realistic. Maja was very helpful, first having a discussion by VC to understand the background of the piece and then working through the script and commenting on sections which referenced those particular topics.

There is always a balance to be found between presenting a piece of fiction and making sure that potentially triggering topics are dealt with as sensitively and as realistically as possible. The excellent advice from Maja helped us understand which sections were more specifically led by the story and how we could help the actors find a way of approaching those scenes to ensure they were believable.
